2025 ESSAY COMPETITION

We are excited to launch the Warwick Future Economist Essay Competition 2025/26, run by the Warwick Economics Society in collaboration with Warwick’s Economics Department - ranked 1st in the UK in the Good University Guide 2025.

Questions

Who Can Enter?

Is the era of globalisation coming to an end - and what would that mean for the global economy?
Can AI-driven automation solve the productivity puzzle in advanced economies, or will it create new vulnerabilities?
How should the government balance the goals of reducing inequality and promoting economic growth?

The competition is open to all students aged 16-18, from any background of study, with an interest in Economics.

Why Take Part?

Boost your university application: Shortlisted essays will receive commendations, ideal for UCAS or CVs
Get recognised: The winning essay will be published in our flagship Assumptions magazine
Win prizes: £100 for the winner, plus £50 each for two runners-up
